Uncomplicated Operation Control of the DRS-001 is via the front panel or a simple remote
control. The green button starts an interview recording session.
The red button terminates the session and the blue button pauses
the session. The yellow button turns the live video display on and
off.
From the operator control menu you can test the recordable media
to make sure each disc is blank and ready to record and check the
position of the cameras.
Reliability DRS-001 is designed to automatically restart on loss of power.
If an interview was in progress when it lost power it will recover
as much of the interview as possible and give the option of continuing,
archiving it to disc, or discarding for a new session.
All media is checked before the interview begins, and in the unlikely
event of finding a disk faulty during recording, the DRS-001 will
inform the interviewer of the faulty disk after the interview is
over and then request a replacement disc. None of the recording
will have been lost.

Total Coverage The DRS-001 recordings leave nothing to ambiguity. A fully-configurable
Picture-in-Picture generator gives a full screen view of the interviewee
as well as up to two picture-in-picture shots to use as you wish,
most often one will show the entire interview room through a wide-angle
lens camera, and the other a close-up of the interviewer or interpreter.
Verifiable Recording With DRS-001, your recordings are digitally signed as they are
recorded. This means that at any time in the future it is possible to prove absolutely that a particular
recording is complete and unchanged.
Built-in Monitor The DRS-001 boasts a TFT LCD screen on the front panel showing
graphical instructions and live video for camera setup, confidence
in operation and playback.
Remote Monitoring Through its Network Port the DRS-001 can share both the audio and
video from an interview with a remote location. This can then be
viewed or stored on a network server. It also has analogue video
out and audio out connections.
Multiple Recordings The DRS-001 records each interview permanently to five optical
discs simultaneously. There are three audio-only CDs, one for transcription,
the other for the interviewee. One of the two audio-video DVDs is
for use as a working copy, the other for sealing and storing as
a Master Copy in case of a future dispute.
Choice of Recordable Media Should your application require a non-standard combination of audio-only
and audio-video recordings, or more or fewer recordings than standard,
the DRS-001 can be changed to suit your application.
Reduced Media Cost Compact Discs and DVDs are less expensive than audio cassettes
and VHS tapes, thus reducing the running costs.
Video The DRS-001 records video as 25 fps PAL. An NTSC version is also
available with 30 fps rate.
Date and time are visible throughout the interview including a
countdown of the available recording time left.
Audio Two microphones are used to give CD-quality stereo audio.
Playback The interview is recorded on the CD’s and can be replayed
on a computer, home CD player or walkman.
Playback of the audio-video DVDs can be either via Microsoft Windows
or a standard DVD player.
Installation of the DRS-001 For best quality, the Interview Recorder should be permanently fitted with up to three cameras and the remote control permanently
positioned in an appropriate position in the interview room.
Setting up for an Interview It’s as easy as inserting a CD or DVD disk into each drive and pressing the check-media button to make the DRS-001 ready for an
interview.
Recording an Interview Very simply, push the Green Record button.
The display will tell you how long DRS-001 will record for and unless you wish, will not show the picture being recorded to avoid
distraction.
